Welcome! You might be a parent or a relative to a beautiful child born with a diagnose. I am a mother of three beautiful children. I feel also priviledge and lucky to be a mother to a child that has an extra of everything. Don’t misunderstood me, I love all my children endless and they are beautiful and unique in many dfferent ways.
My son Anthony Nyberg was born 2 weeks earlier in December of 2004 and he was diagnosed with Down Syndrome. He was also operated in his very early age because of the serious genetical heart disease. He was diagnosed with congenital heart disease called AVSD meaning Atrioventricular Septal Defect. Anthony was also born with hearing impairment but we feel priviledged to communicate in many different ways. Anthony is also sensitive to infections but we also learned to be extra careful and more meticulous when it comes to hygiene.
Having a child with Down Syndrome taught me a lot about the value of life, patience, appreciating small little things, people around us, prioritising important matters, organizing and many other good qualities a person should have.
I am not a psychologist or a teacher. I graduated in college with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Marketing (BSBA-Marketing Management) at Polytechnic University of the Philippines, so it’s a totally another education but I would say that the creative part of it helped me. I created this website to make it easier for Anthony to communicate with others whenener and wherever he goes by showing images easily and conveniently. First time I showed him the site he sat with me and we scrolled the menus. He is using it excellent and easier to locate the images comparing to having all the images printed. It takes time for him to bring out the images which results to frustration and blocking behavior. Communication have been much easier and I am grateful for that as a mother.
